OUR MISSION:

To enhance the awareness and knowledge of history in higher education and to create interest amongst the youth of the region. To encourage research and create competent individuals who are well-suited to the demands of society and career. To support community activities and strengthen all round regional progress and development. The Department aims to start a certificate course in a related subject. It also aims to conduct at least one national or state level seminar per year. The department also aims at publishing a history related journal in the near future.

The department is planning expand its interaction with other institutions and to sign further MoUs with other institutions to establish cooperation in the areas of teaching, research and training.

OUR VISION:

a) The Department attempts to use new tools to assist in the teaching-learning process. The use of varied mediums such as power-point presentations, films, recordings etc are used.The department encourages participatory method of learning. It organizes student seminars, quiz competitions, group discussions and viva in this regard. It regularly organizes tours to historical places, museums and tourist destinations. Student are required to prepare the reports based these visits. The Department hopes to improve knowledge of students and to provide extra qualifications to benefit them by starting certificate courses in the future. It hopes to develop among students a keen interest towards History.
