The Sonari College, located at Sonari Town, is a leading educational institution of the Charaideo District. It has been imparting education in the Arts stream since its inception on the 5th of August, 1970. With the initiation of the Science stream in 1984, the institution has provided an enormous impetus to fulfilling the long-felt needs of the students of this vast locality. The college offers Major/Honours courses in five faculties incorporating eleven disciplines. The college makes all possible efforts to cope with the growing needs of higher education and include additional subjects in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. The academic achievements of the students of the college are praiseworthy as reflected in their academic performance and in the educational benchmarks attained by them. The overall percentage of student progression into various fields is also impressive. Students have also been consistently performing well in sports and co-curricular activities in the institutional, district, state and national levels. The distinguished faculty members of the college are always keen to guide and encourage students with zeal and dedication. The institution has adopted a well rounded Mentorship Program to provide proper guidance in all spheres to the students. The institution is committed to continue to render its faithful services to the evolving society to which it is ever accountable. The College has secured B Grade in NAAC Accreditation and strives to improve its performance in future. The institution proposes to form a Cluster with Sonari Commerce College, Borhat B.P.B. Memorial College and Sapekhati College as per the New UGC Guidelines in conformity with the DHE order no. DHE/OSD/Misc/2023/12 dtd. 29th March, 2023. Now, the College is in the process of transforming itself into a Multi-disciplinary Institute in order to address the challenges of the twenty- first century.
